Am I correct in saying that this is just a new camera with crazy resolution? Does nearmap actually develop their cameras? I’m pretty sure the answer is no, it develops a way to take photos using essentially off the shelf cameras, rather than getting into the nuts and bolts of the camera itself.
to me this means in a number of years, camera technology will increase to the level suggested in the article. So nearmap will be able to upgrade their cameras to the same spec as this camera eventually. This means either better resolution for the end customer or the ability to take photos from a higher altitude (not sure if that has a benefit to the company)
