I don't own HIL and no one reading has to accept my opinion. I just answered a members question as to why (I think) the great australian icon has fallen from $6 to $2.30.

But do you honestly think that next week you are going to see a good result and a divi left untouched? They'll cut that divi to at least half, institutions will bail and they will be under $2.

They pay out 100% of earnings as a divi, so the only investment money they have is borrowed (gearing is 45%) or through the divi re-investment plan. Watch the DRP takeup rate fall to 20% from 38%, putting more pressure on cashflow.

Pissing in the wind? we'll see next week.
