This is a victim of poor communication - the market doesn't like surprises - especially below expectations. If you keep the market informed with good news and bad you can build up enormous credibility and trust.

The run up in the share price pre-announcement is a clear indication that the company had not kept the market well enough informed.

Having said that, the company did not have a disaster and is in the right space. They said the second half is going to be stronger but they need to re-set the expectations if consensues is too high
