It is all about voting rights. I guess when they are lending out shares the voting rights must go with them to the borrower.
I never take too much notice of NAB/AMP etc type notices as it is not as if they are taking over the company and it is all about pension funds, internal funds, private client funds, etc. It is interesting when there is strong buying in a stock but these fluff notices don't alter my view either way.
But yes, it is interesting to note that they haven't actually sold the shares.
