Thanks Riseabove, great information. From recent readings the LEAF has 20 kg of graphite in its rechargeable batteries, which is 10 times more than the weight of lithium (and other metal, like cobalt). So smallcap graphite explorers are an importnat part of the renewable energy revolution. Consider the following claculation based on the use of graphite in electric vehicles.
Let's say an EV battery in a LEAF (or any comparable electric vehicle) recharges 700 times in its life and gives a distance of 300 km per charge. It means that the carbon in the 20 kg of graphite in the battery enables 210,000 km of travel (ie 700 x 300). Now compare to an internal combustion engine which gives about 10 km for every kg of petrol (about 10% carbon). So 20 kg of carbon (ie 200kg of petrol) enables 2,000 km of travel (ie 200 x 10). What we see is the carbon in graphite gives roughly 100 times more travel than conventional combustion of fossil fuels. And at the end of the batteries life, the graphite is ready to be recycled, yes recycled. While the carbon that was in the petrol, can't be recycled. (It is green house gas.)
Our task is to identify the graphite stocks which will do well in 2018.
