Perth-based Adelphi said in a project update that the well was expected to take about six weeks to drill, including both a vertical pilot and a horizontal sidetrack to penetrate the pay.
The well lies about five kilometres north west of the Easley-1H development well, which is drilling ahead at a depth of 15,535 feet with 2800 feet of the hole penetrating reservoir sediments, where elevated gas shows have been recorded, Adelphi said.
The company said the existing Kennedy-1H and Weston-1H wells continued to produce to sales ?in line with expectations?, although production tubing has yet to be run on both units.
Adelphi holds a 20% interest in the Sugarloaf venture, with fellow Australian players Aurora Oil 7 Gas and Eureka Energy holding 20% and 12.5% respectively.
