If you look at the small % of shares the Chairman and CEO own then it's easy to understand why they were given performance shares. It allowed investors to come in relatively cheaply with potential for big upside if the company delivered. The IPO was structured by Alto Capital so that if the company was successful it would be a win win for founders and incoming investors.
