Horse racing won't be for anyone unless the industry wipes out guys like Weir. It can barely survive the fatality rate which occurs naturally through accidents in races and trackwork. Add to that stables operating with illegal and intentionally cruel methods and the public will move to ban it. Racing is already becoming increasingly a minority sport in terms of public interest. Racing people sticking up for guys like Weir are really just signing the sport's death warrant.
