Ahh thanks i stopped reading the WHN thread a while ago, he may of very well picked it up from there,

MOST of the oil accumulations in the exmouth sub basin are in the barrow formation which is early Cretaceous around (2500m give or take 500m) and 1 or 2 very very late jurassic


i don't know what formations shell are targeting with palta-1 (maybe mungaroo like the rankin and goodwyn fields unproven this far down the coast though) but they are drilling down to 5500m so you would think the target reservoir is around 4500-5300 (ish) and probably past the oil window.

but you never know with oil and gas, and it may have multiple stacked reservoirs
