ADELAIDE-BASED Western Desert Resources expects to secure an offtake partner for its proposed iron ore mine in Northern Territory this financial year.
The company told shareholders talks were well advanced and the project was on time and on budget.
Managing director Norm Gardner said first direct shipping ore would be exported in October at an annual rate of 3 million tonnes per annum.
Mr Gardner said almost half of the mine and development work had been completed with projected operational costs for the first two years set to be at or below $60 per tonne.
Last year Chinese company Meijin Energy Group made and withdrew its $435 million offer to buy Western Desert Resources.
