I can think of many many stocks that I have sold because I thought they are way over-capitalised, and that includes Computershare well before the year 2000.
Over-capitalised? The early 2000 Tech Boom comes to mind, the current mining boom and of course there is Facebook - is is worth the Zillions it is being valued right now? What is the PE - Price/Earnings ratio??? All minnows start out being over-capitalised when valuing them on an earnings basis. I am not smart enough to know exactly how their speculative future will unfold?
The fact is - if I have been over concerned with the over-capitalisation of many of my past investments, I'd still be scratching around.
Make your own investment/trading decisions - I am not smart enough to give advice on what is an appropriate capitalisation. I am referring specifically to those shares that fall into the category of minnows, emerging technology, early movers, speculative miners and such. Cheers,
