The trouble is having no other choice to deal with all the downpipes, especially on a large roof. A small solar pool pump would be enough to empty it into the tank without draining but then it's another complication and dumping it at the right times is probably the best solution.
How much of a problem, in percentage terms, are the pvc pipes in a world made of plastic?
I wonder what type of pipes are used in the mains supply system?
