Hey guys. Based in Melbourne. If a meeting could be arranged with the company, I might be persuaded to come over, could visit my sister who's been nagging me for months.

The one person I would really want to meet above others here is Sean, if only to ask him straight up what his vision for Protean is, how he sees it can be scaled up globally, what are all it's iterative uses in his thinking, and how it can thus make a real contribution to humanity, which I firmly believe it can. That's not to exclude Bruce and co. in any way, just that without Sean's inspiration we wouldn't be here at all.

I nicked this link from another poster from another stock thread (so credit to Prowiz) to underline some of the important issues here IMV. It's an older article (old - Jan 14) and does mention the role desal can play in WaaS (water as a service) around the world well into the text.

The other point you read into it, is the physical difficulties of moving water longer distances, and why local solutions within close proximity to communities is critical. (Protean offers certain communities proximity advantages and a renewable power source, but you all know that)

Our State Government has just announced it will start up the desal plant here (mothballed for several years), but not without creating other environmental impacts, as it is a massive consumer of electricity being so big.

That's lots of energy to convert the sea water, and lots to then pump around the state from a single location - whilst mass harvesting of stormwater as an alternative has been ignored for years, so perhaps governments' best (read : only) role should be in the supply of development capital to innovative industries capable of seeing things differently, and not to play the role of initiators/developers. The debacle here makes that very clear IMO.

The timing for clever climate responsive technologies is upon us right now, and this article knocked my socks off, so happy Sunday reading.

P.S. would of course love to meet you guys face to face to chew the fat (although the prospect of flying 4 hours just for Perth coffee doesn't thrill LOL)

    Cheers BC
