The MDT does a range of tests, temperature, pressure, permiability, resistivity...... not just zone sampling.

If all the measurements taken do not meet the requirements for an effective petroleum system it fails the test.

As Dave Wall said in the recent Proactive Investors interview, they came back at 5/10, if one of them had come back at 7/10 it may have been enough to drag the rest up. Wasn't too be the case.
