Mining company Tanami Gold says it's discovered an extra one million ounces of gold at its Central Tanami project in the Northern Territory.
Known as the 'Groundrush' deposit, the company is hoping to start mining the area by March next year.
General manager Andrew Czerw says it's an exciting time for the company.
"This find increases our overall resource base for the Central Tanami project to over 3 million ounces," he said.
"We're very bliss about the Tanami region and we see it as one of the last under-explored gold frontiers in Australia.
"Just down the road is the Callie mine which has been running for over 20 years, it's owned and operated by Newmont, and we're of the belief that there's more than one Callie out there and we want to be the guys that find the next one."
