It seems intriguing that a large company would follow this path, when there is a far more efficient method of production available ….
The production of ammonia requires a large energy input … why not use all of this solar power to make the ammonia, rather than waste it on an inefficient method of producing the raw product? The first thing that they would need to build is a massive desalination plant to provide the water, which is an energy hungry (and high maintenance) beast anyway.
I would have thought that using the Hazer process to provide the hydrogen and solar panels for the (daytime) ammonia process would have been a better solution.
Then again … not being cynical or anything …. there is some government money floating around for hydrogen … surely this wouldn't have anything to do with utilising the fastest track option?
