Waste water discharge, page-5

    Hi Anatinus.
Thanks for your reply. I should have put "thats my two points" instead

Im saying that the system that has been installed is less about keeping the harbour clean and more about being able to keep their fish in the water, after they overstocked in preperation for the biomass cap to be raised or kept the same. it was then reduced.
This system is also based on feed/waste falling directly down onto a plastic base and then slide down into a central collection point. Their pens are 120m circ (38m across) so any tide or weather will wash the waste outside of the cage area. I do think it will catch some of the waste but not nearly enough to mitigate the extra tonnage they put in the harbour. At the end of the day thats the main thing as more fish mean less oxygen in the water, and its already in dire staits as it is.

I agree profits are king, but its short term thinking. I assume Tassal have thought about what would happen if the harbour collapses and are willing to take thier chances. Just seems rough as the west coast are alreadt struggeling with jobs.

I have family that live in and around these fish farms. I also have friends who work for both companies.

No worries about the dot points.

    cheers
