Warwick is a graduate of the Australian National University having completed degrees in Law and Economics. Warwick was recruited by Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd in Perth, and subsequently moved to Sydney where he rapidly became one of Australia’s leading mining analysts.
Warwick retired from County Natwest Securities Australia in 1991 to partner Andrew Forrest in the formation of Far East Capital Limited (“FEC”), a specialist research-based mining company financier and corporate advisor.
In 2008, Warwick backed the Far East Capital Limited business into BGF Equities, which established itself as a stockbroker specialising in the emerging mining sector with offices in Sydney, Melbourne & Hong Kong. In 2011, Canaccord Genuity, a leading Canadian financial group acquired a 50% interest in BGF. Warwick continues as Executive Chairman at Canaccord Genuity (Australia) Limited.
In 2002, Warwick was an inaugural inductee to the ANU Economics and Commerce Department Hall of Fame. Outside of business endeavours Warwick is a volunteer fire fighter in the Rural Fire Service of NSW, Group Leader of 1st Loftus Scout Group, a fluent speaker of Scots Gaelic and a bagpiper.
