Why do you say "it sounds like permission has been granted, and it is now public knowledge", do you really think this would happen without an official announcement??

Nice to see any article... (thanks Kalmsg) But Key has informed the market that we have been given approval by the Ministry of Fisheries (the last Government department that is required for approval) and now they are just waiting for the Ministry of Economics.

I think the article is more refering to what is already stated on the Key website..
"Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports for each area are currently being evaluated by the Ministry of the Environment and Key Petroleum is awaiting the Ministry’s final response and approval."
"Technical evaluation work has continued in parallel with the EIA lodgement process with the Company working closely with its Italian technical specialists in evaluating geological and geophysical data."
