Its like that when you go there. I remember working at Constancia a coper mine some 8 hours from Cusco for Ausenco out of Brisbane the EPCM managers of the project. We had a failure of a 2MVA motor for the cyclone feed pumps. On install the install contractor had not done a good job and some packing nails had fallen into the stator of the motor and after start up they crunched in the rotor and scored the rotor and the protection equipment for over current wouldn't let the motor engage. So I as he electrical Aussie had to pull it apart and get the stator which was 10 tons on the back of a low loader and have it transported to Arequipa to the Teco agents for a rewind of the stator and a recut and paint of the rotor. I the next day travel from the mine site with my interpreter from Constancia mine site to Arequipa some 12 hours by road over and Andes to Arequipa. NOTHING AMAZED ME MORE THAN THE PRESENCE OF MINERAL WEALTH. the rock formation the colours of the minerals just stood out. I am not a rock licking geologist but even I could see minerals there.
