As johnrap has posted VRLPA are entitled to capital IN PREFERENCE to normal shareholders.
Therefore your comment below is completely wrong - in fact you could not be more wrong!!: ******* VRL and VRLPA have almost the same share issue about 240 million. VRL would have a NTA VRLPA would not, because they are preference shares. VRLPA is only worth what dividend it pays, nothing else, if VRL went broke they are worthless, VRL holders would be placed in front of VRLPA for any proceeds, not that VRL will go broke but I'm just trying to let you understand what a preference share really means. *******
I know this is complicated but I would think it is not that hard if you spend the time!!
