Some posters have suggested TXN should be acquired outright. Others prefer the Eagle Ford land sold for a good price and TXN uses the proceeds to "re-rate" (increase) the share price, through more drilling/derisking and possibly a special dividend.
So, let's have a vote. I don't see a voting widget on HC, so the thumbs up/down tool will have to serve us. (Apparently no rules prohibiting this activity on HC.)
**THUMBS UP**: A LARGER COMPANY BUYS TXN OUTRIGHT FOR $1 OR MORE PER SHARE, LIKELY IN A SHARE SWAP. TXN IS WOUND UP AS A CORPORATE ENTITY AND SHAREHOLDERS RECEIVE EASILY SALABLE SHARES OF THE LARGER ACQUIRING FIRM.
**THUMBS DOWN**: TXN SELLS ALL EAGLE FORD LAND FOR 80 CENTS OR MORE PER SHARE. FUNDS ARE USED FOR NEW LAND ACQUISITIONS, DRILLING DE-RISKING WELLS, AND POSSIBLY SOME FUNDS RETURNED TO SHAREHOLDERS AS A SPECIAL DIVIDEND.
Sorry the options here are limited, but only two thumbs. You can vote even if you don't own shares. The "thumbs" voting machine allows only one vote person (and I can't vote).
This is all hypothetical, but if TXN does have a buyout offer, this vote might indicate whether it should reject and carry on, or actively seek such a buyout.
Finally, the usual caveat: The votes shown here provide sentiments from a non-representative sample of Hot Copper visitors and, as such, should not influence your investment decision.
