I may be guessing, but historically it seems that volumes drop off in the couple of days pior to announcements.
This may acocunt for the low volume today. Look at period prior to 3rd June annoucement, where volumes dropped significantly.
Could be as insiders get too nervous about trading too close to a deal.
Just thoughts. Still long and not doing a Kenny Rogers yet.
