The gyrations in the CAB SP over the last month or so have been a day-trader's dream.  Movements of 5% up and down over days remains unexplained.  Looking back even over the past  3 years shows this stock is historically volatile, with movements of -$1 to $1.50 being common, usually after a dividend, but not directly correlated to it.  The price falls are typically 5 to 6 mo apart but vary in the detail.  The last year has been somewhat flatter, with only a rise in September, followed by the usual but less abrupt decline.

The past data suggests there will be a rise starting in late Jan and peaking in early-mid Feb.  The Interim results and dividend announcement usually occurs by the end of Feb, so I guess its speculative buying ahead of that.
