I don't know how voda will have the best 4g or 5g network unless they spend an awful lot of money..
Voda are woefully short of spectrum caused by their cost cutting to survive..
They really need 700MHz to be competitive. This spectrum auction next month could determine their long term future in Australia.
Winning the 700MHz auction means a frequency that can penetrate buildings and go further... that means less towers if you have 700MHz. Lose the auction, means more towers and less speed available and higher build costs...
5G is something else again. It doesn't have the penetrating power of 4G. 4G will not be replaced by 5G in the medium term. in fact it is likely the two will coexist. 5G for speed and 4G for penetrating coverage and long distances.
5G will need a lot of towers and a lot of fibre.
As for tpg and their fttb offering. It's only for apartment buildings where the NBN hasn't been yet.
