Go to your local service station and grab an amaysim starter card for $5. 15 c/m Aust wide, even a lot of o/s numbers are 15c/m. Cheaper to speak for a minute than texting.. No flagfall!!

They use the Optus network which is 1000 times more efficient than Vodafone.

You can take your own number as well. May have to do that bit online.

No need for expensive calls anymore, may even be worth canceling the contract. Whats the point of being on a contract if the product doesn't work?
