Tesla are the "golden haired boy" at the moment and have very good systems and marketing in place so not surprising they've won another project. Whilst not as big as SA the VIC project is still the same team so maybe it's more about that JV collaboration than just Tesla alone.
I am not keen on being in such a saturated market place and think we should have stuck with Wave energy as our priority rather than diversifying our capabilities to the extent that we have. While EMC is a subsidiary it seems CWE has pivoted to be an all encompassing energy provider rather than a wave company with a subsidiary. Unfortunately CCE are now very little fish amongst some very big players. I think they need to focus on Western Power future prospect and Albany project - if they succeed in installing that project in the timeframe they have suggested and it produces the numbers, I think that CCE wave will get noticed in a big way. Hopefully govt's will beat down the door to have wave capability. Hopefully Wave will become the priority business income stream and CCE pivot back to focusing on that then EMC (micrograms) can be then pushed to the back or sold off.
I can understand that they pivoted after Ceto5 due to what I can only assume were mediocre results. The only thing we know for sure is the 14000 hours of operation. Hopefully the 3 (or more?) pump idea of ceto6 is the winning configuration.
It would be interesting to see a Tesla and ceto6 project - the marketing hype around tesla joining with a Carnegie Ceto would be awesome. Too bad we are now tied to EMC as there is no way CCE and tesla could work without CCE throwing EMC under a bus, or maybe there is....

...I'm pretty sure in his interview with Alan Kohler, MO alluded that this was going to be the primary focus of the subsidiary, rather than the massive projects that garner dozens of competitive applications globally (and that we missed out on). Niche projects of a certain size (I think he said 5-20 million?). If you haven't read the interview it's a good snapshot of where we are in that space. Give yourself a while to get through it, though, it's a big read.
