Airborne data acquisition is starting to take off (pun intended) as a tool for early stage analysis of the prospectivity of large new areas, with a number of applications of the technique starting to occur as companies latch on to its vast land assessing potential. Arc Energy wrapped up the recording of 28,400km of aeromagnetic data with UTS Geophysics across some of its Canning Basin acreage on Apr 25. Over a period of 25 days, Arc completed four surveys including the 3152km Carnot aeromag in SPA 3/06-7 20km N of Broome, 15431km East Fitzroy in SPA 4/06-7 250km SE of Broome, 2860km West La Grange in EP-438 and 7000km West Anketell in EP-448—the latter two permits operated by Empire. Arc funded both surveys in Empire’s two blocks to earn initial 5% interest in each.

Finding large structures isn't the goal, looking for ones with trapped oil and gas in good reservoir is the KEY.
