If you're horizon is one year sure there is an opportunity cost. The stocks I have had that have given 200 , 300 and more returns did nothing for 2 years ...when the market is aware of it, price catches up with value. Without a doubt sitting and being patient has been a money maker for me. Going in and out would have been pretty bad as there is no way I would be able to time things perfectly. In my personal case, it is more tax effective to sit and have my money in steady compounders.
