My Girlfriend had a quote for laser eye surgery to correct her vision. The price was $8500 for both eyes.
Instead of going to VEI she flew to Japan ($1100 AU) got off the plane, went to a well known state of the art "same day" Laser eye surgery in Tokyo. She was in at 10.00am for the consultation and left there at 3.00pm with 20/20 vision. The cost for both eyes $2900 AU. All up cost with return flight $4000AU. She will be spending the remaining $4500 on 2 week holiday in Japan.
Two of her friends have also done the same thing
What am I saying is that VEI must have wicked profit margin. Lets just hope other folks dont cotton onto the ridiculauos price difference and head to Japan for same day treatment.
I hate the way we get milked in OZ for everything, no wonder we do most od our shopping overseas. $4500 is not small potatoes. If the differnece was only $1500 we would have like to have kept the money in OZ. I suppose there premium price for NOT doing your research (as in buying shares)
I watched her organize the whole thing on the internet, it took her an hour (being able to write Japanese probably helped). She sent them an email and they sent her an appointment. She booked about three weeks out. I couldnt believe it, but I just got a text from her and it all worked out fine - she now has eyes like telesopes or microscopes or stethoscopes or some kind of scopes :-).
By the way laser eye in Japan is not like getting a head full of teeth in Thailand. They are true specialists in this type of high tech "doo hickey".
Might be a business in organizing folks to go to Tokyo, charge them a grand for your pocket and they save $3500 for a Japan holiday. Anyone with me :-)
I sold my VEI at 50c after buying them around 35c. I will buy them back at what I reckon they are worth post cap raising - 40 - 41.5c
