    Not sure if the strike at the Modikwa Platinum Mine had been weighing on PLA's SP, but it looks like it has now been resolved. So one less thing for PLA shareholders to worry about. [Modikwa is next door to Smokey Hills].

    Also worth noting the PLA workforce has a wage agreement which was signed last year (under the contractor - which PLA has taken-over) which still has 18months to run.

    Smoky Hills is also part owned by the local community. And ~20% of the workforce hales from immediately adjacent villages and approx ~50% from the broader local community (which the Provincial Government recognise as local community).

    Resolution of Modikwa Platinum Mine strike

    10 April 2012
    African Rainbow Minerals Limited (“ARM”) confirms that the wage dispute at the Modikwa Platinum Mine, which led to a three week protected strike, has been resolved.

    The Modikwa Platinum Mine signed a two year wage agreement with the National Union of Mineworkers (“NUM”) on Tuesday 10 April 2012.

    Striking employees are expected to return to work and resume production on Wednesday, 11 April 2012.
