MJS, I agree with you in general. Companies should get into the habit of paying shareholders as well as directors and management. Many companies are run as a sinecure for the execs who hold the shareholders in contempt.
AMU's sponsorship of classic music concerts while paying the shareholders nothing is a great example of why AMU should be closed. It shows no understanding of how shareholders should be treated.
Have a look at TAP. Huge cash flow for many years. Continuously falling stock price and no dividends. They are spectacularly poor at finding gas or oil. They should stop drilling and start paying a dividend.
In AMU's case it is too late. There is no point holding the cash from a one off sale and slowly paying it to shareholders. Give it all back and let shareholders reinvest. The only beneficiaries of a slow trickle are the staff who would keep their jobs while funding music concerts.
AMU is finished, put it down humanely and efficiently, now.
