The only caveat I see is that Dr Pointer may be reluctant to concede his new lucrative position after such a short time, even though an offer may be close to the one you mentioned, but I susspect the man has all the right scruples and will think of me (and you too)in our hour of need.
But then again the offer may have gone away and they just forgot to mention it! who knows?
