    As I said:
They have huge amount of stabilisers, safety systems that won't allow the pilot to exceed safety limits even in the manual flight.

    For example:
Big airliner won't let the pilot tilt the plane past the safety limit, go bellow stall speed, pull the aircraft up out of nose dive at an angle that would compromise wing structural tolerances, etc.

My friend is long haul pilot. They are not allowed to do anything other then monitor the systems and follow pre-planned flight plan, pretty much.

According to him, he isn't really in control of anything other than following instructions on how to bypass the system that's playing up by engaging auxiliary systems, etc.
Or steer the plane in emergency or to avoid storms etc over Ocean. When they get into traffic control range, they can't even do that without traffic control telling them what to do.

By he's words: he's piloting is no different than monitoring switch board panel for warning alerts.

I'm no pilot, just repeating what he said.
