China has to make a choice about its neighbourly relations that have nothing directly to do with the US.

US need can  play the role of a good guy facilitator and coordinator for Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei and of course Japan.

By making ridiculous claims China is actually securing an ongoing role for the US of  broader region  that extend a thousand or so kilometres from China's recognised economic zone.

If China actually wants to progress its new economic belt idea it will have to drop this  stupidity.
