You make a lot of good points Marv but I'm not sure about REA providing anything for free. The cost of advertising on REA is one of the main gripes of agents. This does give RNT a chance of success of securing a position in the market but as I've mentioned previously it's not agents or landlords that they have to win. It's prospective tenants. If they can pry them away from REA the agents and landlords will follow. I just don't see anything in their arsenal that is a game changer and will help them do this.
Effectively at the moment I just see a search portal being sold to shareholders for $30m. Like you I just see too much risk. I do hope they can come up with something though as I'd like to see REA suffer a bit. They've been a bit too greedy for my mind over the last few years.
