Because the find is likely more valuable to others than it is to GAS. ie. The cost for GAS to build/hire the experience to produce and deliver to end users will be equal or greater than the profit forgone by selling out now. There's the argument to meet in the middle by farming in other partners. There's also still plenty of risk in the project so selling now avoids wearing any going forward.
