Those are businesses with a unit trust structure. Stapled securities such as APA and Transurban consist of a company and a trust "stapled" together. The trust passes through all earnings, untaxed, to the unit holder who cops the tax bill. The company component of the stapled security is liable to pay company tax and may therefore be able to pass on franking credits.
