"Imagine yourself I n a country railway station, it is Winter and dusk, the next train is later, although nobody knows when... The buffet is closed and the chocolate machine doesn't work. A fine cold drizzle blows on freezing gusts of wind down the station, the shelter is vandalised and you cannot get away from the rain. You are cold, hungry, you have a valid ticket... suddenly in the gloom you see a distant light moving towards you, your heart lifts, "Thank God, I can get out of this dump " you think to yourself. You begin to walk to the edge of the platform in mounting anticipation, the noise getting louder, the lights getting closer, and brighter. You are getting excited, happy, your means of escape has arrived! But then, just too late you realise the train isn't stopping, it thunders past you drenching you in a sheet of cold drizzle, in the locomotive you glimpse an overweight driver grinning inanely at you, inside inside the carriages as they speed by you see happy laughing faces, people warm, well fed, dry and enjoying life,. The train hurtles into the darkness leaving you dejected on the platform. "Good grief", you think to yourself, "the people on that train looked really sophisticated".
