well, all soldiers are trained to be killers ... so the lecturer was right, in one sense ... on the other hand if he was intimating that the soldiers were "killers" in the sense of murderers, then he is wrong ... the soldiers killed because that was their duty not because they wanted to murder others for personal reasons ...
annual Anzac celebrations a cliché? did he explain what he meant by cliché? perhaps he meant that the celebrations were an overused overfamiliar formality ... did he wish to deny the rightness that Australians should commemorate the great sacrifices made by its soldiers ... cossetted in academia and removed from everyday reality and not having a proper job, lecturers are at danger of making controversial statements to gain attention and bolster reputation ...
