Could also negotiate offtake with transport the responsibility of the partner. You obviously get less per tonne but it becomes SEP. Some of the copper miners do this.
Given the external investment by the Chinese already in infrastructure this could make sense since they don't see the same logistical difficulties the doomsayers see here.
