I think the US market is in for at least a bit of a correction again after missing making a new high and turning significantly lower on the weekend. The trigger was an interest rate indicator which is warning of a possible recession again. The same indicator contributed to the last correction late last year but turned out to be a false indicator that time which is part of the reason the US markets made up almost all of the previous correction so quickly ( together with trade war fears diminishing). Our market gave up all its gains on Friday after being up near 1% earlier, so I think that indicator was seen during our trading day and I wonder if a holder of MWR heard what was going on and sold on Friday. Our low volume would have allowed us to correct more than the market. I think we are seeing the follow on from that. I really doubt that it is a lack of news.
Whether or not the US does go into recession probably doesn’t matter to the US market right now. I think it was ready for a correction and this gives it the trigger.
The irony is that MWR didn’t rally to near its previous high so probably didn’t need to correct as much as the US market might but has corrected more rapidly because of low liquidity.
If a recession happens it will most probably affect our same store sales but the expansion into Europe will more than offset that. A recession will just slow our growth. It may also delay any potential new competition by years We are are also much less vulnerable due to our very low debt, not being reliant on significant new debt other than to fund stronger expansion (which would be positive) and our high margins also allow a good buffer.
When the next recession hits is any ones guess. Central banks seem to prefer to do what it takes to avoid them these days.
    Im holding my shares here.
