Cable replacement technology, internet of things, ubiquitous wireless technology, blue tooth, 5G, low-power wide-area networks are all very knew, all very confusing to us at the moment but it is coming.
Perhaps the time is getting close where an entire central business district will be interconnected and powered by whatever energy is available and sustainable, (including smart glass).
