Not really that interesting many of the few remaining local formations in the east Aleppo pocket were FSA trapped near the Kurdish controlled pocket. Some of these local FSA surrendered to the government last month and handed over part of a suburb under an amnesty . This was naturally unacceptable to the majority of those fighters in the pocket that are foreigners and Al-nusra. These extremists were determined to continue the struggle and not surrender. They deliberately attacked those FSA forces, killed fighters and took hostages of leaders and their family members to ensure they complied (they also shot at those locals who attempted to flee for safe passage to government lines). The rapid nature of the collapse of the northern end of the pocket when the SHTF provided a timely opportunity to flee to safety, which is what they did (hence next to no casualties by those forces). As the pocket shrinks most of the remaining fighters are all foreigners and Al-nusra, so don't expect kinder terms from the local forces SDF or SAA.
