Can you direct me to the report that Assad has used chemical weapons? I assume you meant report as in a detailed finding with evidence than a media claim (i.e UN report). The only recent news was a chemical attack at Aleppo international airport two days ago by those 'moderate' rebels, but the evidence as to the substance (possible chlorine) has yet to be determined by an official investigation by hazardous experts like the UN findings of earlier claims Assad did it that was later disproved.

The US state department has made numerous claims and allegations but needs to furnish real evidence and should never be taken as. There is countless videos online pressing the white house spokesperson and state department for this evidence at media briefings and they have always backtracked 100% when pushed after the initial claim. (i.e past bombing of an Aleppo hospital by Russia, Assad gas attack and claims Russia bombed an aid convoy).

Don't think the issue is to deny it first and say someone else did but wait for an official response and compare. The claims Russia bombed an aid convoy months ago as a template is exactly how the US and mainstream media jumped to conclusions and the UN/US later withdrew their claim when confronted with evidence to the contry (the apparent "legitimate" witness was a white helmet member who was also a known member of al-nusra). You say "I doubt the US State department relies on Ropcke for their intel" is not the issue its when they state media reports "said so" has made the US State Department since Obama took over look like amateur hour when pressed by others in the media to show their evidence they have (which they never do for such a serious accusation).
