Can you share the link? My understanding from a quick review is the xd driver is a method from one of the major component brands (SRAM) to get a 10 tooth cassette, as opposed to Shimanos, another major component makers, 11 tooth. The smaller tooth count at the rear allows for quicker speeds with the same front chainring.
Given Trek don't currently do group sets would be hard to see them bring out something that would transform cycling that Shimano, SRAM and campagnola haven't been working on.
