~ mycloud to enable seamless connection to wireless broadband locations across Europe ~

London, 6th May, 2008: The Cloud, Europe’s leading wireless broadband provider, today announces the launch of mycloud (beta), a new service which will facilitate the simple use and mass market adoption of wireless broadband. The new mycloud connector will vastly simplify the Wi-Fi user experience by providing seamless log-on to home, office, public access and free networks, without complex registration requirements or hidden costs.

Ultimately, mycloud will bring together a community of millions of Wi-Fi users over a virtual network of access points. Users will be able to manage and top up their accounts online, and maintain one central identity for wireless broadband access across Europe.

With the wide availability of mobile devices, the industry has seen rapid growth in the uptake of Wi-Fi. However, despite numerous initiatives to overcome its flaws, the mobile data user experience is still in its infancy. Out of the home the need for multiple log-ins is cumbersome, and in-home sharing a network with friends and family can raise security concerns. By simplifying the way users get online, The Cloud is positioned to play a significant role in the evolution of the mobile internet experience.

Owen Geddes, Director of Business Development at The Cloud, commented: “mycloud is the product the public have been waiting for – a simple service that allows everyone the benefit of one seamless, secure broadband experience. mycloud will effectively create an umbrella experience over the plethora of operators including FON, BT and T-Mobile, as well as The Cloud, and will bring Wi-Fi to the masses for the very first time.”

Existing Cloud subscribers can register for the beta version by sending an email to [email protected].

mycloud has been developed by The Cloud’s technology specialists based on the Devicescape Connect Service, an award-winning Wi-Fi connection solution provided by US-based Wi-Fi experts, Devicescape Software.

“As Europe’s fastest growing Wi-Fi service provider, The Cloud is an excellent partner for us to launch our fully integrated service with,” said Dave Fraser, CEO of Devicescape Software. “Together, we will provide consumers an improved Wi-Fi experience – at home and on the go – on all their different devices.”

    * The solution will only be available for Windows desktop clients at launch (Windows XP or Vista running Windows Zero Config or Intel PROset). From May 19th, the mycloud connector will be available for existing Cloud subscribers with a Cloud Unlimited (Multi) subscription.
