There are no winners in any real war.  Only losers.  Maybe the US could have held onto South Vietnam BUT the ingress of modern global culture into Vietnam was going to happen anyway.

In practice (if not  theory) , Vietnam has moved away from ye olde Marxist-Leninism and it's neo-Communist framework continues to evolve.  The market economy is booming in Vietnam and will continue to do so with more than a little help from a Saigon culture that never actually died. That said, Vietnam's  state of development that is significantly behind China ATM.  Others on this forum who visit Vietnam know more about the place than I do.  I would like to know their views on what is easy or difficult in establishing business relationships with Vietnam.

My expectation is that Vietnam and Australia can greatly expand business opportunities together.
