I don't believe it either.

The "97% of scientists agree" mob were the 30% of the scientists who actually responded to a two-question online questionnaire sent to 10,257 earth scientists of whom 3,1346 responded and of which 96% came from North America.

So, 97% of 31% of the responses agreed with the proposition that mankind was affecting the climate. On the other hand, 100% of 69% did not bother to respond to the questionnaire.

97% x 31% = 30%.

Don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story.
