President Donald Trump said Tuesday that there was “no rush” to denuclearize North Korea, whose leader, Kim Jong Un, he’s meeting with next week.
 

“I have no pressing time schedule,” Trump said of full denuclearization by the North, adding that he would “like to see, ultimately denuclearization, of North Korea” and that he thought “we will see that, ultimately.”

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is committed to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, promising swift progress to curb a growing threat while warning Pyongyang that sanctions will only be lifted "when we know the nukes are no longer a factor."


"[Kim] reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," Trump told a news conference after the summit.

 

Trump says the U.S. would have to verify North Korea’s denuclearization before lifting its current sanctions. He says: “We’re going tohave to check it. We will check it. Total and complete.”
